Unique in the Region: The New Dirt Bike Facility in Wurmauenpark

In Wurmauenpark, mountain bike and dirt bike riders not only enjoy riding but also have the opportunity to practice safe bike handling.

The recreational facility features several earthen mounds made of compacted clay and sand mixture. From two starting ramps of different heights, riders can use two 'tablelines' with varying heights and difficulty levels. Additionally, the facility includes a 'funride,' which consists of smaller, closely spaced mounds.

As part of a 'Bike and Construction Club' at Anita-Lichtenstein Comprehensive School, students have been maintaining and repairing the facility since the end of 2023. In the club, the youth learn to plan and realize a track, take care of it, and, of course, practice riding on it. The project was supported and implemented by the city's youth worker Sonja Frings, Markus Kaumanns from the City Youth Council, and Dragan Samardzic from Mobile Youth Work Geilenkirchen. The lead was taken by Mr. Bauhus from the comprehensive school, who is an enthusiastic rider himself and has previously worked on the design of dirt bike facilities.

The use of the facility is only permitted with appropriate protective gear and is at your own risk!
